This past Tuesday I celebrated my 26th birthday! It’s so hard to believe how quickly time flies… I feel like I just turned 21 a few days ago. Believe it or not, I remember my 21st birthday perfectly, but 26 is SO different. I had a low key relaxing day and I even had to go into work (gasp)! No more sleeping in with little to no responsibility, no more staying out until 3 AM and no more over the top birthday celebrations… and I am okay with that. I enjoyed my low key birthday and I am so excited to see what this year has in store for me!
I had a nice work lunch with some of my co-workers… we tried this new spot called Babalu, a Latin American tapas restaurant, which was amazing. I sampled their tacos and empanadas, which were to die for! My boyfriend surprised me with cupcakes and flowers and we went to dinner at Harper’s in South Park. Harper’s is kind of like a steak house but apparently they have amazing brick oven pizza as well. I opted for the jumbo lump crab cakes (staying true to my Maryland roots). Everything was delicious and I was also surprised again with a pair of Carrie Underwood tickets –SECOND ROW! #GirlCrush (insert heart eyed emoji here)!
I had planned to see Carrie live before the Belk Bowl last December, but it was pouring down rain so we didn’t make it. I was SO bummed –she is one of my favorite artists who I have followed since her American Idol days (inside your heaven anyone?). I have never seen her live, so needless to say I was ecstatic and October 23 can NOT come soon enough! Also, can we just talk about how amazing her style is?! I have NEVER seen her look bad in anything… can’t wait to see what she wears on tour! I’m expecting lots of glam and sequins!
But now for the more important thing; what I wore for my birthday dinner…
Dress: Nordstrom, $88 (similar, similar)
Lipstick: Smashbox ‘Always On’ Matte Liquid Lipstick in Dream Huge, $24
Bracelets: Bourbon & Boweties (set of 3, pink, off pink)
Watch: Michael Kors, gift (similar, similar)
Clutch: Steve Madden from Nordstrom, Sold out (similar) also love this one!
Shoes: Steve Madden Carrson heels in Sand Suede, $89
Earrings: My Stella & Dot, old (almost identical)
I loved the silhouette of this dress.. I got so many compliments! It’s something totally different from what I would normally wear (feeling a little more grown up). I just loved the asymmetrical hem detail and the ruching across the torso. Overall I just thought it was super flattering and can’t wait to wear it again for a friend’s wedding in October!
Hope ya’ll enjoy your Thursday! My sister is coming into town tonight so the birthday celebrations will continue!
