2 Is Better Than 1

I had so much fun on this photo shoot with my beautiful and talented friend Katie! How gorgeous is Charlotte at sunset? She found the perfect spot to snap some pictures… an empty parking garage –who would have thought? It had just finished storming and cleared up for us to take pictures and the Charlotte skyline with the sunset created the perfect backdrop (there was even a rainbow and everything)!

This floral two-piece set was such a natural and easy combo to put together, creating a perfect timeless look. I liked that the print was simple and not too overwhelming. Sometimes with patterned sets, if the print is too busy it can overshadow your look completely. You definitely don’t want that –so I like to choose patterns that are more simple, subtle and/or muted. Of course to every rule there is an exception but it all depends on how you feel and how you accessorize. (You may be able to pull off a louder, bolder print if paired with neutral accessories).

While doing some Labor Day sale shopping this weekend, I found this matching top and mini skirt in my local Nordstrom store. Unfortunately, when I got home to find them online, I saw that they were both sold out. However, I decided to take pictures and post them anyway, because really anyone can pull off an effortless two-piece look and there were many more two-piece sets I found online that I loved just as much! I made sure to link them below.

I think my favorite thing about putting together a printed combo is the versatility. I could easily wear this top with a pair of black skinnies, or wear the skirt to my corporate job with a polished black top. I could also bring out the small yellow details in the pattern with a button down yellow top. If I were feeling adventurous, I could match the skirt with a turquoise/green top… the possibilities are endless! Below are some sets that I put together from other retailers that I found online. Which ones are your favorites? I would love to hear from you!
