Amelia Island Getaway

My sister and I planned a fun little girls weekend away 2 weekends ago and decided to head to Amelia Island down in sunny Florida. It’s a small island right off the coast, a little North of Jacksonville. We had lots of fun catching up and exploring the beautiful island together –see for yourself…

This was Sliders Seaside Grill, which was right across from our hotel. It was a neat beach side bar with an amazing ocean view, where we spent most of our afternoons. Each day they had awesome live music and the food was phenomenal! I would definitely recommend the calamari with Rum Punch! We loved this little Tiki Bar… they even had swings at the bar. Unfortunately I did not think to take a picture but you can take my word when I say it was really neat!

It was so amazing how you could just drive your truck right out on to the beach. A lot of places don’t let you do that. Of course I was not about to drive my little car out there, but it was still cool to see the locals do it! Once we got checked into our hotel and settled, we started looking up some places to go explore and played total tourists for the rest of the day. We made our way into the downtown area where we did some window shopping and explored some of the local bars and historic sights.

Below are some pictures from the marina and downtown:

This was the hotel that we stayed in “Amelia Hotel at the Beach.” While it wasn’t a 5-star resort, I would definitely go back and stay there again. The rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful! You can check out their website and make reservations here. They also have an amazing Groupon deal you can check out here! Unfortunately, I did not stumble upon this until after we got back.

Overall we had a very relaxing stay and some much needed sister time escaping from the real world for a few days!

See what I wore while exploring downtown and shop outfit details below:

Off the Shoulder Sweater

Warning… excuse the blurry pictures! BUT I am happy to say that this is my LAST post using my old camera! YAY! It’s amazing how big of a difference my new camera has made, everything is so clear and in focus (but still working on learning all of the features).

Anyways… as many of you may have heard, Macy’s is unfortunately closing a bunch of their stores. The good news for us is that there are A TON of wonderful brand name items on SALE!*I just got a pair of free people booties for $45! That’s usually unheard of! I would definitely recommend checking out their sales or signing up for their emails. This sweater was one of the things that I was able to pick up and I ABSOLUTELY love it! I guess everyone else loved it too because it has since sold out at Macy’s price but you can still get it from Lord and Taylor. I have also attached similar options below. Enjoy!

I love that you can either wear this piece as an off the shoulder sweater or a regular sweater for a more conservative look.

*Life update: I spent the weekend in the beautiful Amelia Island, Florida with my sister. It was such a nice little getaway for us both. We loved exploring the town and of course we always love having sister time! Keep an eye out for a lot more posts from the weekend coming soon.

I hope you all have a great week!

Winter Wonderland

So in case you haven’t heard, we got some snow in Charlotte, NC this weekend! (Note: some snow, mostly ice). Unfortunately it was a lot less than I had hoped for, but I always love seeing and experiencing the snow (maybe that’s the Northern blood in me).

I hope you all had a SAFE and FUN weekend… I know I sure did. It was great staying in my PJs all day and not having anywhere to go. However, I was able to get outside and snap some pictures before taking shelter by the fire for the rest of the day!

It’s hard to tell but I promise that it was snowing at this point!

Love the purple pop of color I added with this Rebecca Minkoff bag I snagged on sale from Nordstrom!

I have had these gloves for YEARS! I originally got them from Francesca’s and I love that they are mittens that button back in to gloves… genius idea!

This was my sad attempt at making a snowball. Unfortunately there was more ice than snow so this is about as far as I got.

I hope ya’ll try to stay warm this week and have a happy Tuesday! Shop all of my outfit details below:

Jacket: Nordstrom by Jessica Simpson, $119 on sale!
Leggings: Lilly Pulitzer, $98

Red & Black Plaid

There’s just something I love about plaid flannel in the winter. This red and black plaid button up is no exception. There are so many ways to wear plaid flannel (whether it’s for warmth, style or even pajamas)! This top was very loose fitting and the material is super comfortable and with a $31 price tag, I couldn’t resist.

I also love the different pattern on the rolled up sleeves! How cute is that?!

Since this is my first post in the New Year (still can’t believe it’s 2017), I thought I would share some things that I am excited for coming up in the next few months (in order of occurrence).

  1. Today -The Lilly Pulitzer after party sale! This is a must shop event as you all know Lilly rarely EVER goes on sale! This year it is better than the previous…. with so many pieces that I just adore!
  2. This weekend -SNOW! (so this isn’t really “fashion” but I can’t wait to wear my Sorel snow boots)! Fingers crossed -we are supposed to get up to 5 inches.
  3. Clemson vs. Alabama national Championship (GO TIGERS!)
  4. My new camera! If you haven’t been able to tell, my pictures have been hit or miss (poor lighting, sometimes blurry) but not anymore! I recently invested in a new Nikon D 3500 and I am so excited to elevate my photography game!
  5. My trip to California next month. I have NEVER been to California.. is that not crazy?! That’s about to change this February when I fly out to LA next month to visit my friend Alison -to say I am excited is an understatement
  6. Jack Rodgers’ new hand bag collection (about time)! Check it out here. They are a little pricey but still adorable.
  7. Target Collaboration with Victoria Beckham… coming April 9!
  8. Sister’s graduation… road trip to University of Florida anyone?
  9. Brother’s wedding in Denver, CO. Who doesn’t love a wedding? Especially when it’s your brother marrying the love of his life!

Stay tuned for more posts this year! What are ya’ll excited to do?! I would love to hear from you! 🙂
