Color Crush: Lilac

Funny background story… I used to HATE the color purple in any and every variation. (I’m not really sure why, but looking back I think it’s because I was a Pittsburgh Steeler fan growing up in Baltimore). However, after a few years at Clemson, the color purple had grown on me again!

Right now one of my favorite colors to wear is lilac. I have seen it everywhere, and I think it’s such a sweet and flattering color. However, I gave this top more of an edgy look with black skinnies and a black choker.

Top: Anthropologie, old (similar $19, similar $24)
Pants: Nordstrom (similar only $32)
Sandals: Tory Burch (similar for $45)
Earrings: Kendra Scott (also love these)

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend! I am looking forward to spending some much needed time with the family to celebrate my little sister’s COLLEGE graduation! Where has the time gone and how did she grow up so fast?!

8 Vacation Staples

We are half-way through summer, and a lot of you are gearing up for beach/lake trips and vacations! Lately, I’ve gotten the urge to take a trip somewhere -even if it’s just for the weekend. Last Friday I traveled up to West Virginia to visit the beautiful Summersville lake. The lake was made from an old rock quarry and the water was SO clean!

Obviously, I have already started thinking ahead about vacation style and what I should pack for another upcoming trip. There are so many fun trends that will get you through the rest of this summer and into fall. So I wanted to share my favorites with you! Packing for vacation is always one of the hardest things for me to do (I am a compulsive over-packer)… but as long as you bring some of these staple pieces with you, you can’t go wrong!

1.  Tassels! (Earrings, tops, dresses, etc.)

Tassel earrings are one of my newest obsessions. However, I started noticing that there are now tassels on everything… bags, shoes, dresses, tops, etc. and it’s hard to resist this up and coming trend. Shop my favorites below.

2.  Pom Pom Sandals

This is a trend I LOVE but definitely would not splurge on. These sandals are a fun way to spice up an otherwise ‘plain’ outfit, but I honestly don’t get a ton of wear out of them so that’s why I opted for this more affordable pair from DSW.

ONE  |  TWO  |  THREE  |  FOUR  |  FIVE

3.  Straw hat and totes

There is honestly nothing worse than getting sunburn on your face and/or scalp. This just happened to me recently and it was miserable! Normally I wear a straw hat, but forgot to bring it with me this time. Lesson learned and I will never forget it again!

I just love a big floppy straw hat on the beach to protect my sensitive skin from the sun. But lately I have also started wearing smaller ones and styling them to incorporate it into my outfits. I also love pairing my hats with a straw beach tote or clutch. There’s also no better way to say “summer” than a chic straw clutch.

ONE  |  TWO  |  THREE  |  FOUR  |  FIVE

4.  Crop Tops

This is an obvious piece for hot summer days. What better way to cool off than a cute, breezy crop top?! These pieces are also great to pair with shorts and wear to the beach, it can also easily be transitioned from the beach to a night out for dinner and drinks with a cute pair of wedges.

ONE  |  TWO  |  THREE  |  FOUR  |  FIVE

5.  Rompers

If I ever can’t decide what to wear, rompers are usually my go to piece. I can never get enough of them! They are great if you want to pull off a dressier look without actually wearing a dress, but also offers the convenience of shorts (especially if you’re at the beach where it can be a bit windy)!

ONE  |  TWO  |  THREE  |  FOUR  |  FIVE

6.  Palm Print

I have seen palm prints EVERYWHERE! From bathing suits and dresses to throw pillows and paintings. What better way to feel like you are in a tropical oasis than to shower yourself in gorgeous green palm print pieces?

ONE  |  TWO  |  THREE  |  FOUR  |  FIVE  |  SIX  |  SEVEN

7.  Subtle Stripes

I am more of a subtle stripe person. There is just something about big, bold stripes that don’t look great on me –and that’s ok! Luckily, subtle/seer sucker stripes have been huge this season and offer a great alternative for me.

I have been wearing this comfy flats on repeat all summer! The black and white stripes make them versatile, AND I don’t own any other shoes like this (shocking, I know).

ONE  |  TWO  |  THREE  |  FOUR  |  FIVE  |  SIX

8.  Small Block Heels

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good pair of high 4″ or more heels, but on vacation, small block heels look just as cute and are MUCH more practical. They also take up less room in your suitcase! I recently bought a pair of nude ones from Nordstrom Rack for $16 and I could NOT believe it! I ended up going back and actually buying them in black too! Unfortunately, they have since sold out, but view some other options below. My FAVORITE are the floral printed ones. 🙂

Anyone have any upcoming trips? I’d love to hear where you are going! Hope everyone has an amazing week!

Tie Sleeve Off the Shoulder Top

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend and have a great start to a new week! One of my current trend obsessions right now is this off-the-shoulder look. I instantly fell in love with this top… it’s trendy AND the tie sleeve detail is SO cute!

Pair it with some white skinnies and booties (or sandals/flats) and you are good to go! I wore this outfit a few weeks ago in Florida and I will definitely be wearing this top alllll summer. The material is really thin and comfy too, so even though it has long sleeves, it will still be wearable in the summer heat! M y favorite part? It’s ONLY $35!

Top: Nordstrom, $35 (also love this one)
Pants: Charlotte Russe, old (similar for $39)
Booties: Vince Camuto (similar only $22!)
Leaf cuff: Lilly Pulitzer, (similar)
Bangles: Bourbon & Boweties
Earrings: Baublebar (comes in 24 other colors)
Sunglasses: Nordstrom, $12

This is one of my favorite outfits I’ve put together in a while because it is SO affordable! I mean, tell me where else you can get cute sunglasses like these for less than $12? And where you will find a quality off-the-shoulder top for $35?

I also LOVE Baublebar accessories (especially their statement earrings). There are so many different style options at affordable prices AND you get points for each dollar you spend that you can use towards future purchases.

Weekend in Naples

Last weekend I was able to visit the beautiful town of Naples, Florida for my gorgeous soon to be sister in law Erin’s “last flamingle” a.k.a. Bachelorette party! There were 11 of us and we stayed in an amazing condo a few blocks from the beach. We collectively decided on a flamingo theme… And let me just tell you how cute this idea was and how much fun we had with it! Is she not the cutest?!

I left for Florida Wednesday night after work and made a pit stop in Gainesville, Florida to pick up the little sister. Of course I had to wait until her classes were over on Thursday (despite my best efforts, I could not convince her to skip class). So while she was in class, I went for a little run around Gainesville and did some stairs at the stadium. Of course I stopped for a breather and was able to snap this shot.

It was an absolutely gorgeous day, so I was happy that I could fit in a quick workout before the busy weekend! We were finally able to hit the road (with Starbucks in hand) at 2:30 and arrived in Naples around 7. We made a stop along the way and picked up some drinks, sunscreen, balloons and other decorations.

Luckily, Erin was out at the beach so Haley and some of the other girls and I were able to decorate everything and surprise her when she got back. There were two other girls whose flights got in a little later, so we just hung out at the house, waited for them and ordered in. One of my favorite decorations (and I think most of the other girls would agree) was this life size portrait of Erin!

Not to mention, she is wearing a FLAMINGO bathing suit! Side note: we decided on the theme BEFORE we were able to get our hands on this picture (thanks Josh)! Is she not stunning in this one piece?!

Anyway, we ordered pizza for dinner from a place called The Crust. We got a few different pizzas and let me just tell you how AMAZING their menu is. The Barbeque Chicken was my absolute favorite! If you are ever in the area I would DEFINITELY recommend this place! And one of my favorite things is having left over pizza for breakfast… anyone else do that too? The rest of the night was spent getting to know each other/catching up and just a few cocktails from the margarita machine!

I was so excited for my first beach day of 2017! Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t that great (a little chilly and windy), but the beach is the beach and just being able to relax by the ocean with a Corona had me happy! And as you can see below, we were definitely not going to let a little cold weather get in the way of our fun weekend.

Swimsuit: Everything But Water top, bottom

We ended up having to cut our beach day a little short, but that gave us more time to get ready for Erin’s big night out! (And more time for 11 girls to get ready for her night out). We reserved a VIP table at one of the local night clubs, called The Blue Martini. I am not used to going to a bar and reserving VIP tables –but it was super fun for the night!

Romper: Nordstrom, old (similar for $29, also LOVE this)
Shoes: Guess, old (similar for $39!)
Earrings: Baublebar (short version)
Necklaces: Not sure 🙂
Bracelets: Bourbon & Boweties
Haley’s romper: Lilly Pulitzer (similar only $38!)
Haley’s sandals: Lilly Pulitzer (similar, $22 similar, $24)

We had an amazing night and I think Erin had a ton fun, which was the most important thing! We may have stayed up until 3 AM, but we sure as heck weren’t going to miss the beautiful weather that Saturday!

Bathing Suit: Victoria Secret, old (similar top, $17 bottom, $13)
“Hello Summer” Hat: Nordstrom, only $25!

The weather on Saturday definitely made up for the weather on Friday. We made ourselves at home on Clam Pass Beach and spent the day relaxing in the sun. We stopped by the beach restaurant for lunch and while we were waiting, we obviously had to try their drinks. They made the most amazing piña colada with a rum floater. Definitely a new favorite drink of mine that I discovered on this trip! (As if I needed another).

All of the girls!

After a full day relaxing on the beach, we made our way back to the condo and got ready for dinner. Since this was our last night, we kept things more low key than the night before and played some fun bachelorette games.

We had reservations for dinner at a place in downtown Naples called HobNob. The food was so fresh (I can honestly say I did not have a single bad meal while I was down there). We shared some appetizers –I would recommend the stuffed peppers, they were to die for! I also tried ceviche for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised. For those of you that don’t know (and I didn’t) ceviche is raw fish marinated in citrus juices and spices. I was surprised that the sushi lover in me had never had this before!

Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (similar on sale, similar for $23)
Dress: Nordstrom, old (similar)
Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell (similar, similar)
Haley’s dress: O’Neill, on sale for $25! (also love this)

Once we got back to the condo, we played my fav bachelorette game of the weekend! One of the girls came up with this idea to interview Josh before we left and ask him questions about their relationship, then see what Erin said and how their answers matched up. It was very sweet and had all of our hearts melting!

Haley and I left early the next morning. I stopped in Gainesville to drop her off, then slowly made my way back to Charlotte. 11 hours of driving in total… it was a long day and weekend for that matter, and I was SO exhausted. However, celebrating Erin and my brother and their upcoming wedding was absolutely worth it!

If you have any questions about Naples and my trip, feel free to reach out I would love to hear from you! OR if you have questions about fun things to do for a bachelorette party, I can also give you some pointers. Until then…

Teal Cold-Shoulder Dress

Hello everyone! It’s been quite a while… I have decided to come out from under my rock and get back to blogging. I took a hiatus for a while as things started to get SUPER crazy at work and I was beginning to feel overwhelmed. However, this is my creative outlet so I am going to try and be better about posting more consistently (and not just on Instagram! ) 🙈

I am SO SO SO excited for this warmer weather! Summer is my all time favorite and I was able to kick it off with a fun girls trip to Naples, FL this past weekend! (New post on that coming soon). We were celebrating my soon to be sister-in-laws bachelorette party and it was so great to be able to spend time with her and meet all of her amazing and fun friends! So reminiscing on my last trip to Florida when I went to Amelia Island… I decided to post some pictures from my last photo shoot there. Enjoy!

The long open sleeves on this dress made it really breezy in the Florida heat -it’s a great transition piece from spring to summer (especially when paired with these adorable Vince Camuto booties). You can read more about my Amelia Island trip here. See outfit details below:
