We are half-way through summer, and a lot of you are gearing up for beach/lake trips and vacations! Lately, I’ve gotten the urge to take a trip somewhere -even if it’s just for the weekend. Last Friday I traveled up to West Virginia to visit the beautiful Summersville lake. The lake was made from an old rock quarry and the water was SO clean!
Obviously, I have already started thinking ahead about vacation style and what I should pack for another upcoming trip. There are so many fun trends that will get you through the rest of this summer and into fall. So I wanted to share my favorites with you! Packing for vacation is always one of the hardest things for me to do (I am a compulsive over-packer)… but as long as you bring some of these staple pieces with you, you can’t go wrong!
1. Tassels! (Earrings, tops, dresses, etc.)
Tassel earrings are one of my newest obsessions. However, I started noticing that there are now tassels on everything… bags, shoes, dresses, tops, etc. and it’s hard to resist this up and coming trend. Shop my favorites below.

2. Pom Pom Sandals
This is a trend I LOVE but definitely would not splurge on. These sandals are a fun way to spice up an otherwise ‘plain’ outfit, but I honestly don’t get a ton of wear out of them so that’s why I opted for this more affordable pair from DSW.

3. Straw hat and totes
There is honestly nothing worse than getting sunburn on your face and/or scalp. This just happened to me recently and it was miserable! Normally I wear a straw hat, but forgot to bring it with me this time. Lesson learned and I will never forget it again!
I just love a big floppy straw hat on the beach to protect my sensitive skin from the sun. But lately I have also started wearing smaller ones and styling them to incorporate it into my outfits. I also love pairing my hats with a straw beach tote or clutch. There’s also no better way to say “summer” than a chic straw clutch.

4. Crop Tops
This is an obvious piece for hot summer days. What better way to cool off than a cute, breezy crop top?! These pieces are also great to pair with shorts and wear to the beach, it can also easily be transitioned from the beach to a night out for dinner and drinks with a cute pair of wedges.

5. Rompers
If I ever can’t decide what to wear, rompers are usually my go to piece. I can never get enough of them! They are great if you want to pull off a dressier look without actually wearing a dress, but also offers the convenience of shorts (especially if you’re at the beach where it can be a bit windy)!

6. Palm Print
I have seen palm prints EVERYWHERE! From bathing suits and dresses to throw pillows and paintings. What better way to feel like you are in a tropical oasis than to shower yourself in gorgeous green palm print pieces?

7. Subtle Stripes
I am more of a subtle stripe person. There is just something about big, bold stripes that don’t look great on me –and that’s ok! Luckily, subtle/seer sucker stripes have been huge this season and offer a great alternative for me.
I have been wearing this comfy flats on repeat all summer! The black and white stripes make them versatile, AND I don’t own any other shoes like this (shocking, I know).

8. Small Block Heels
Don’t get me wrong, I love a good pair of high 4″ or more heels, but on vacation, small block heels look just as cute and are MUCH more practical. They also take up less room in your suitcase! I recently bought a pair of nude ones from Nordstrom Rack for $16 and I could NOT believe it! I ended up going back and actually buying them in black too! Unfortunately, they have since sold out, but view some other options below. My FAVORITE are the floral printed ones. 🙂
