Houndstooth Style

Happy Sunday everyone!

I never thought I would be wearing over the knee boots in early/mid-April, but when it’s 40 degrees outside – you have to dress accordingly. But hey, at least the sun is shining 🙂

Outfit Details: Keyhole Top: Neiman Marcus Last Call, old (similar for $15, similar for $18) | Skirt: Revolve, old (similar only $16, similar) | Boots: Steve Madden, $50 | Bag: Louise et Cie, old (also love this for only $19!) | Earrings: Anthropologie, $38 (also love these) | Lip: Bare Minerals in VIP, $19

One of my favorite trends from this winter, that I have found myself carrying over into spring is houndstooth and gingham patterned pieces. I absolutely love this skirt… I wore it several times this winter with black tights and some pumps. Now that it’s slightly warmer, I paired it with these Steve Madden over the knee boots.

One of my favorite things about this time of year, is being able to stock up on winter essentials at a discount. The boots that I’m currently wearing were originally $130 but I scored them from Nordstrom Rack for only $50! They are almost sold out, but I found a similar pair here for $60!

I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a great week!

Gold Sparkling Sweater

Spring is only a few days away, so now is the absolute BEST time to score some amazing deals on winter essentials. One of my favorite sale purchases recently is this gorgeous gold and black sparkling sweater! I dressed it down a little bit with jeans, but you could easily dress it up with some black leather pants or a black mini skirt with tights.

Unfortunately, this top is now sold out (which usually happens when things go on sale), but I have listed some other favorites and additional options below!

Outfit Details: Sweater: Nordstrom, now sold out (similar here and more below) | Jeans: XX (similar, similar) | Pumps: Express, old (similar, similar) | Bag: Vince Camuto, old (similar, similar and only $14) | Ring: Express, $22 (similar, also love this one) | Watch: Nixon, $119 on sale! (similar) | Earrings: Nordstrom (similar)

See some additional sale sweater options below at various prices:

ONE, $75 | TWO, $35 | THREE, $64 | FOUR, $40 | FIVE, $35 | SIX, $63

Make sure you stock up for next winter… until then I am ready for some warmer weather. Hope ya’ll have a fabulous week!

9 Spring Trends to Wear Now

While I am sitting here down in Charlotte, NC, soaking up the sun, I thought it would be the perfect time to post about this spring’s latest fashion trends! One trend that I have seen the most (and was showcased all over the runway at NY Fashion Week), is yellow! Yellow, marigold, mustard… all shades yellow are so hot right now! I’ve seen pants (love these here), bags (this one is on my wishlist), shoes, tops and dresses like this one here:

I love this dress because it’s more of a mustard yellow, which suites my skin tone a little bit better than a brighter yellow would. I also like the versatility… I dressed it up a lot here, but it could also be dressed down with some casual sneakers and a jean jacket. It’s the perfect piece to go from day to night and is also office-friendly!

As you can see, I styled this outfit with navy accessories. I just love trying unexpected color combos like mustard and navy!

Outfit details: Dress: Nordstrom, sold out (similar, similar only $19) | Necklace: Nordstrom, old (similar, similar) | Earrings: Kendra Scott, $55 (similar) | Bracelets: Bourbon and Boweties, prices vary | Shoes: DSW, old (similar, similar only $11!) | Bag: Steve Madden, old (absolutely LOVE this one)

Check out some more of my favorite yellow clothing and accessories below:

I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your week! Happy shopping!

A New Day has come (to Target)

Cue Celine Dion… A New Day Has Come, and it’s at Target! A New Day is a newer, affordable clothing line at Target and I am officially obsessed! You can now get trendy, stylish pieces for a lot less (think Target prices)!

Not only do they have clothing (for all body shapes and sizes), but they also have shoes, handbags, hats and many other accessories.

They have a lot of colorful handbags (like the one I am wearing), which really brings a pop of color to a plain black and white outfit. They also have THE cutest shoes (and super reasonably priced) like the ones I am wearing below. These fur lined flats were so popular that they sold out so quickly in a lot of sizes. (Order a half size up).  However, I was able to find a pair that looks almost identical here!

I also love the fact that this line includes every day basics like this plain v-neck t-shirt for only $8 (or 2 for $14) and it comes in 11 colors! It’s hard to find basic pieces at reasonable prices, so I have been stocking up!

Outfit Details: Scarf: Target, $18 (similar) | Earrings: Baublebar, $22 (also love these Kenneth Jay Lane earrings marked down to $17 from $88!) | Sweater: Nordstrom, old (similar for $26, similar in blue) | Bag: Target, $20 (similar, also love this one) | Jeans: Nordstrom, old (similar, similar only $32) | Shoes: Target, $24 (almost identical) | Lip: Bareminerals Matte, $18 in Scandal

Shop more of my favorite items from A New Day at Target below. OR shop the full A New Day collection here.

ONE | TWO | THREE | FOUR | FIVE (perfect for spring)!

I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Love is in the Air!

Happy Friday!

With Valentine’s Day in less than one week, I am sure you all are starting to make plans as to how you will spend your day. Whether you have a date night planned, or a “Gal-entine’s Day” planned, I’ve got you covered on all of this holiday’s essentials! Today I will be sharing some date night outfit options, fun gifts and things to do if you’re having a girl’s night and one of my favorite cocktail recipes!

This dress will be my go to for date night next week. I wore it first to one of my friend’s weddings back in October, and then again to our company’s holiday party in December. I love the v-neck, open back and high slit, but also that it’s not TOO revealing, yet still subtly sexy. 🙂

(If you can’t tell… I ended up getting the hem brought up after I wore it the first time. If you’re in Charlotte and looking for an alterations palce, let me know – I LOVE the ladies who helped me out)!

You can shop my embellished heels here. I love these shoes and I think they really dress up a plain outfit. See some other date night outfit options below:

And what’s date night without some fun accessories?! I absolutely LOVE these 14 kt gold heart earrings from Zales (similar and less expensive by Madewell here)! Don’t forget your red lipstick. This is my favorite from bareminerals, it has a matte finish so it won’t wear off and it also doesn’t dry out your lips.  AND every girl needs a pair of red high heels… here are one of my favorite pairs from DSW! Shop more fun heels below:

If your opting to stay in with the girls instead of going out, there are so many fun Galentine’s Day gifts and items that I found. I think my absolute favorite though is this heart lipstick from Free People! If one of your friends is hosting at her place, I also found this adorable book, which would make the PERFECT hostess gift! AND, what’s a girls night without a fun cocktail? I found the best recipe (which I tried over the weekend) and you will not be disappointed! Hint: it has champagne!

The Raspberry Bellini:

  1. 1 oz. Raspberry Vodka
  2. 2 oz. Champagne
  3. 2 oz. Raspberry-white puree
  4. Mix together, garnish with fresh raspberries and enjoy!

Hopefully this helps when planning out your day/night. What are everyone’s plans for the big day? Anything exciting? Would love to hear from you ❤ Have a great weekend!

Baby it’s Cold Outside!

Two weeks ago we got about 4-5 inches of SNOW here in NC! We don’t normally get snow, so when we do the entire city pretty much shuts down. It was so nice to have a little 2 day break from going into the office and being able to work from the comfort of my own home by the fire! Luckily I had this super cozy jacket to keep me warm when I did venture out of the apartment for some fresh air.

Unfortunately, all the snow was gone by the next day when it got up to 68! (No wonder everyone is getting sick). But of course this week it’s back to the colder, windier temps as usual, so I’ve been wearing this jacket on repeat. Fingers crossed that spring come soon!

Outfit details: Jacket: Nordstrom (almost identical, similar) | Jeans: Express (similar only $23) | Top: LOFT, old (similar, similar only $14) | Belt: Express, old (similar, similar only $19) | Shoes: Kristin Cavallari (similar only $69) | Bag: Aldo (similar only $24) | Earrings: Nordstrom, old (similar, similar)

Colorblock Sweater

Happy New Year… I can’t believe this is my first post of 2018! It’s been quite a while since I’ve posted, the past few weeks have just flown by! If you follow me on Instagram, you will see that I’ve already taken a trip to Miami AND spent a long weekend in Asheville… and we’re not even half way through the month yet! Also, keep an eye out for an upcoming post featuring an Instagram round up of all my travel/tourist looks!

One of my favorite styles this season has been winter whites. I love testing my fashion boundaries and doing things “outside the norm.” Although, I will say that wearing white after Labor Day -once thought of as a faux pas -has been becoming more and more acceptable. In the past, I would have NEVER worn white during winter, but I am becoming more comfortable trying new styles and you should too! 🙂

Since this outfit is all neutrals, I wanted to add a pop of color with a bright purple bag! I also get SO much wear out of these brown over the knee boots. This is definitely a winter staple you should have in your closet. I got this colorblock sweater from Lord & Taylor on sale… now is a really good time to shop winter items, since most places are starting to get their spring lines in and trying to get rid of boots, sweaters, coats, etc.

Outfit Details: Sweater: French Connection (similar, similar only $27) | Jeans: Free People, on HUGE sale for $17 (usually $78) | Boots: Vince Camuto, last season (similar) | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (similar) | Earrings: Nordstrom, old (similar, same in black) | Watch: Michael Kors (similar) | Lip: Bareminerals in Night Owl

Hope you all had a wonderful Monday and a great start to the week!

Pink Cable-Knit Sweater

Happy Thursday! I can’t believe Christmas is only 4 days away! The craziness of the holidays, working long hours and Christmas shopping has officially gotten the best of me. I haven’t posted in a while since I have been so consumed with my new job, but I finally feel like I am at a place where I have a pretty decent routine and can carve some time out of my busy schedule to focus on blogging! So I am super excited to share this new post with you featuring this cozy pink oversized sweater!

One thing I have noticed about winter wardrobes (and I am also guilty of this) is that all of the colors are SO neutral. When picking out outfits to post for fall and winter, I noticed that everything I laid out was either black, gray, white or brown. With the colder weather it’s tempting to just dress in neutrals, but I wanted to spice things up a bit and this hot pink sweater is the perfect solution!

I picked up this piece from Express for an AMAZING deal on Black Friday at 50% off! These jeans are also from Express and I got them when they were having their “All jeans for $29.90” promotion! I LOVE the diagonal cut at the bottom, it’s different, but I think it adds a little flare! These heels are last season, but I have gotten SO much wear out of them this year. It’s also a perfect way to slightly dress up some distressed denim! The bag is from Aldo and I also got this on Black Friday sale (last year) at 50% off. I love the floral details and thought it was the perfect accessory to tie in the patent leather shoes.

Outfit Details: Sweater: Express (similar only $12!) | Jeans: Express (similar only $20) | Bag: Aldo, old (similar, similar in pink) | Shoes: DSW only $35! (similar) | Watch: Nixon (similar) | Earrings: Baublebar (similar)

Also, Express brought back their 50% off promotion (both in stores and online) so you can still shop my sweater and jeans at a HUGE discount! I hope you all enjoy the holidays with family and friends… and safe travels!
